The annual Louth Triathlon took place on the 2nd September at Meridian Leisure centre hosted by SBR Events.
Being the second of 2 events in SBR’s Lincs series Boston Tri Club sent a strong field in an attempt to overpower the local triathlon team amongst others, & they didn’t disappoint!
10 individual entries & 1 relay team took to the course, nerves were high for some with expectations of grandeur, and points scored at race 1 in Skegness meant 1st place for the series could be achieved for some.
The club pitched their gazebo, competitors went through their final checks & nervous poo’s before wracking bikes, talcing shoes, zipping up tri suits & twanging on their goggles…….its showtime!
Spectators rattled cow bells, shouts of encouragement echoed from grassy knoll, shouts “it’ll soon be dark” “don’t be shit” could be heard far & wide.
There were quick transitions, fist pumps all around, & then it happened, anyone seen Mark? As cool as you like Mark nipped up to Greggs for a sausage roll taking a detour from the designated bike rout, the sausage roll sat heavy & meant Mark could only complete 1 lap of the run.
The rest of the males looked to be going well & were putting in good times, but then there was a foot down & had they all complied with race rules? No would be the answer with DQ’s for some of the chaps, but not the women! They were strong determined & compliant & came home with big smiles & their heads held high & rightly so.
It was time to announce the results, what a medal haul for the Boston Tri Club ladies
Female Series First Place went to Liz Cannon,
Female Series Third Place went to Linda Rands
Triathlon Relay Team First Place went to “Boston Belles” made up of Jo Lovell (swim), Caroline Herriott (ride), Sarah Firth (run)
Aquabike First Place went to Kelly Mountain
All the training & hard work on rainy windy days, early mornings & late nights finally paid off & the rewards were well deserved by everyone.
Ladies you did the club proud!
